PACKING UP AND TRAVELLING halfway across the globe sounds exhausting, right? No wonder then that Danielle and Richard decided to sweeten the ordeal of moving to Australia from the UK by stopping in Thailand’s Koh Samui for a holiday along the way. “We got engaged just before we set off on our adventure to Australia,” explains Danielle. “We visited the Silavadee while we were in Thailand and knew instantly that the resort was where we wanted to get married.”

Smitten with Silavadee’s breathtaking views and sense of serenity, Danielle and Richard went to work planning a destination wedding with a small guest list of their closest loved ones – a dream made possible thanks to the efforts of their talented wedding planner. “Nam was amazing,” says Danielle. “She gave us such great advice the whole way through the planning process and nothing we asked was too much.”

Months and almost countless emails later, the team brought to life one incredible wedding. Walking down an aisle of scattered flower petals, Danielle joined Richard for a heartfelt ceremony at Silavadee’s aptly named Sun Deck, surrounded by their 26 guests and sweeping views of Lamai Beach. “Seeing Danielle walk down the aisle was a feeling I can’t describe,” says Richard. “She looked amazing.”

After the intimate ceremony in which the pair exchanged their own vows, Danielle and Richard treated their guests to a laid-back dinner under the night sky. “We had a buffet-style barbecue, which meant there was something to suit everyone’s tastes,” says Danielle. “The steak and snapper were bursting with flavour.” Heart-warming speeches and a fun photo booth meant the evening was also full of laughter and lovely memories. “The funniest moment of the night was probably giggling with my 90-year-old grandma in the photo booth,” says Danielle.

The festivities continued long after the reception, with the couple celebrating the occasion with an unforgettable holiday with their guests. “As people had travelled from the UK and Australia to share our special day, we also invited them to share our honeymoon in Krabi and Phi Phi,” says Danielle. “We called it our ‘buddymoon’.”
