Why did you choose a destination wedding?
We wanted a small intimate beach wedding with close friends and family in a relaxed atmosphere.
Why did you select that destination and venue?
Koh Samui is a special place for us because it’s where we had our first overseas holiday together, and we’ve been back so many times it’s virtually our second home. After much investigation we choose The Tongsai Bay due to its seclusion, beautiful surrounds, amazing reviews, customer service and five-star service. The resort is absolutely stunning.
How did your guests react to you choosing a destination wedding?
We had 55 close friends and family members attend and there was much excitement surrounding the idea. Most were thrilled and thought it was a great opportunity for a holiday on a beautiful island and to escape the chilly Melbourne winter.
What is your favourite memory of the day?
A special moment was saying our vows while having our toes in the sand, surrounded by close friends and family and the ocean lapping in the background. It was so beautiful and peaceful.
Did you have any pre- or post-wedding activities for your guests?
We had the bucks party and hens night over there which was a lot of fun but we wanted to keep it flexible and let our guests enjoy their own holidays without too many activities planned.
How did your coordinator help you?
Hiro was amazing from start to finish, every single request was answered promptly and he was very organised. As we had to organise this from Australia it was important that we felt we could trust Hiro to deliver what we wanted.
What was the best thing about having a destination wedding?
Our wedding was unique and one that will never be forgotten. We loved being able to share such a special overseas trip with our loved ones; having a wedding that lasted a couple of weeks rather than one day; the fact that everything was organised through one person, the price and value for money; the amazing food and cocktails; the fire dancers on the beach; the beautiful balmy night; the ocean backdrop. The list could go on…
