Ah, Fiji – it’s a destination that’s hard to resist. The tropical wonderland first won over Malia and Stylez when they were just 18. “We wanted to travel somewhere overseas for our birthdays,” Malia recalls. “We escaped to Fiji and have been in love with it ever since!” Naturally, Fiji was the couple’s top choice when it came time for them to tie the knot, and it provided a spectacular location for their vows.
Getting away to the luxurious InterContinental Fiji Golf Resort & Spa with 55 of their loved ones, Malia and Stylez lapped up the holiday-in-paradise vibes before their big day. “Our family and friends were all so excited to go on a massive holiday together,” explains Malia. “We loved introducing our guests to beautiful Fiji and its gorgeous scenery.” When the special day arrived, Malia and Stylez were treated to a truly stunning setting. Adorned with a custom-made arbour of fresh white blooms, the venue’s beachfront looked utterly enchanting when the sweethearts came together to exchange their vows. “It was a very special and emotional moment,” says Malia. Hearts full, the two slipped away for photos with their bridal party by the water. Returning for their beach reception, Malia and Stylez let their hair down with a raucous dance entrance before enjoying dinner with their guests. “We feasted on the most delicious fare under the stars,” says Malia. “Everything was so good – we couldn’t pick a favourite dish!”
The couple have Maori and Samoan heritage, so a traditional haka dance performance from loved ones was another highlight and added to the electric atmosphere. And when it was time to party, they didn’t hold back. “We all danced to plenty of hip hop and RnB throughout the night,” says Malia. Reflecting on their special day, Malia and Stylez say that hosting a destination wedding in Fiji was easily the “best decision we ever made.” “It brought us closer to our family and friends in so many ways and we all got to share an incredible holiday,” explains Malia. “It was truly an unforgettable experience!
