WEDDINGS SEMINYAK, KUTA, LEGIAN & BEYOND
Skirting the south-west coast of the Bali mainland is the island’s most popular holiday destination. Lined with a 12-kilometre stretch of glittering coastline, and perfectly positioned to soak up Bali’s smouldering sunsets, the region encompasses three distinct locales: Seminyak, Legian and Kuta. The luxurious beach resorts of the area host guests looking for tropical romance and a diverse mix of beach life, dining, bars, spas, nightlife, and shopping: plenty to keep you and your wedding guests entertained!
A haven for foodie couples, the chic enclave of Seminyak is home to some of Bali’s best restaurants as well as unique boutiques that blend traditional Australian and European designs. Pro tip: check the roads and streets just off the shopping strips for lower prices and one-of-a-kind gifts and art! Though most of the cafes around Seminyak are great finds for Insta-ready photos, as street art and adorable shopfronts are plentiful.
Seminyak is also known for its well-priced pampering and world-class day spas; ideal for smoothing away any wedding stress or working on your pre-wedding glow! To cap off a day in paradise, enjoy sunset cocktails at Finns Beach Club where the absolute beachfront position and fantastic music draw visitors from all over the island.
Head south from Seminyak (or just north from Kuta) to find Legian; the perfect place to take the days slow and absorb the expansive spread of local shops, spa options, and family-friendly restaurants and food spots right along the beach! Legian’s Dalem Kahyangan Temple is a beautiful place to gain insight into the Hindu culture and sneak a peek at what locals offer to the spirits.
Bali’s first tourist hotspot, Kuta can be chaotic but exciting. While the beach is one of the best surfing spots for beginners, the main strip of Kuta is known for its extravagant nightlife and lively entertainment scene (calling all karaoke enthusiasts!). In North Kuta, the surfer-cool village of Canggu is a fabulous seaside option for couples looking to build their own wedding style in a lovely location.

Then, as sunset streaks across the sky, head to Jimbaran’s beachfront as it transforms into a romantic, candlelit wonderland peppered with relaxed seafood eateries. Or head over to Ayana Resort & Spa’s Insta-ready Rock Bar. Situated on the peninsula’s southwestern tip, about half an hour from Jimbaran, Uluwatu is hugely popular for Bali weddings and photo shoots thanks to the breathtaking power of nature showcased here.
There’s also a handful of luxury hideaways on offer, and the must-see Uluwatu Temple nearby. Schedule your temple visit for sundown to catch the traditional Balinese dances regularly performed here. Or make the steep but rewarding descent to Green Bowl Beach, a more secluded piece of this stunning shore.
WEDDINGS UBUD
While Eat, Pray, Love brought the soul-stirring enchantment of Ubud into the mainstream, lovers have been visiting this hidden gem long before our fictional friends. A tranquil flipside to some of Bali’s more hectic coastal locales, Ubud offers cooler temperatures, emerald vistas, and a deeply spiritual vibe. Located an hour north of the international airport, Ubud is also Bali’s cultural hub, offering a window to traditional antiques, art techniques, textiles, and carvings.
Planning a wedding weekend? Grab a moped and head to the picture-perfect tiered rice paddies of Tegallalang (quietest early in the morning). Or follow the scent of incense and the lilt of gamelan music through coconut groves and forest pathways to find temples, shrines and ancient palaces. Bathe in a springwater fountain at Pura Tirta Empul or stroll together along the scenic Campuhan Ridge Walk. As Bali’s wellness capital, Ubud is also brimming with organic cafes, yoga studios, and day spas that are perfect for calming any wedding-planning jitters or treating yourselves as newlyweds.
Best of all? You’ll find a host of gorgeous venues for your romantic Ubud wedding, many with their own private temple.

WEDDINGS MENJANGAN ISLAND
Could this be Bali’s best-kept secret? A tiny island named after the wild deer that run through its gorgeous tangles of jungle, Menjangan Island exists almost entirely without the fingerprint of humanity. A 30-minute boat ride from the northwest coast of Bali, crystalline waters, clean beaches and vibrant coral reef gardens await you and your guests.
This unique sanctuary is also home to several cliffside temples surrounded by azure waters and backed by dreamy mountains. The island’s enormous white-stone Ganesha statue — honouring the Hindu god of intellect, wisdom, and beginnings — is an ideal stop on the way to your new life together.
Because Menjangan is a legally protected marine area, part of the Bali Barat National Park, its abundant wildlife and forests will delight snorkellers, divers, adventurous couples and nature-loving spirits. Uncrowded and cooler in temperature than much of Bali, the island is ideal for a back-to-nature celebration.
Menjangan Island Wedding Venues to visit:
The Menjangan
This peaceful 382-hectare retreat is heaven for nature-loving couples. The Menjangan offers “I do” with ocean views in their Bali Tower, wild nuptials on a suspended deck reaching into the forest canopy, or wave-side celebrations on Sentigi Beach. Then explore the pristine park by safari-style minibuses, bicycle, horseback or on a snorkel safari.
The Menjangan Dynasty Resort
Located on a quiet peninsula beside a pristine white-sand beach, this tented eco-retreat caters to outdoor adventurers with an appetite for indulgence. Enjoy spellbinding vistas with a dash of five-star flair. The safari-style tented rooms and villas, combined with a series of communal spaces crafted in bamboo and ‘alang-alang’ thatch, present a refreshing holiday wedding alternative.
WEDDINGS CANDIDASA & SURROUNDS
Ever heard of ‘Hidden Beach’? One of Bali’s most beautiful, the real name is Pantai Pasir Putih (meaning White Sand Beach) and it’s tucked away in a secret location just outside Candidasa. Just one reason to put this east-coast locale on your Bali shortlist! The traditional fishing village of Candidasa has staged a recovery since mining of the reef left its beaches underwater in the 1980s. But most tourists have moved on — a big plus for couples wanting to dodge the crowds for their “I do”.
Candidasa offers excellent diving and snorkelling close to shore (around the islands of Gili Tepekong and Gili Mimpang) and a handful of quiet coves and secluded beaches just out of town. Enlist the help of a boat and driver for easiest access. The town’s Lotus Lagoon is an enchanting place to visit with your sweetheart; a lovely lily-covered lagoon surrounded by a skyline of low-rise mountains cutting waves against the vivid blue sky. There’s also a good selection of boutique hotels and resorts to showcase the sea views and stunning sunrises.
Venues to visit:
Amankila
Tucked away in East Bali, where water palaces whisper tales of royal history and temples honour the island’s deities, Amankila offers a breathtaking backdrop for any wedding or elopement with a range of spectacular settings, from the iconic three-tiered pool to the stunning black sand beach. But it’s not just the stunning scenery that makes this serene retreat so special for celebrations. Balinese culture and traditions are seamlessly woven into every moment, giving your event a true sense of place and the calm, peaceful vibe that is unique to the Island of the Gods.
Best Time to Have a Bali Wedding
While Bali is a stunning destination year-round, the island experiences distinct wet and dry seasons. Most couples choose to tie the knot during the drier months, but that doesn’t mean a wedding in the rainy season can’t be equally magical. Bali’s wet season often brings short, intense bursts of rain that clear up quickly, leaving sunny skies by morning.
If you’ do decided to enjoy a wedding during Bali’s rainy season, it’s essential to have a backup plan, such as a marquee or tent. However, if your dream day includes sun-soaked beaches, clear skies, and crystal-clear waters, aim for the dry season from May to September when you can hope for lower humidity, plenty of sunshine and generally expect the perfect conditions for a picturesque beach wedding.
