Venue Spotlight: Summerland House Farm

In Planning by Ande Tongco

A unique wedding venue with ocean views, rolling paddocks, beautiful orchards all whilst supporting local people with disabilities? It sounds like the stuff of daydreams, but at Summerland House Farm (two hours south of Brisbane and 30 minutes south of Byron Bay) that’s exactly what you’ll find. Beloved by couples for its gorgeous hinterland setting and proximity to some of Australia’s best beaches, the venue also continually gives back to the local community – that gets a big tick from us, here at GDW.

Summerland is run by the fabulous people at Aruma, which offers supported employment to people living with a disability. Much more than just a job, opportunities like these give people with disabilities the chance to learn new skills, and enjoy the fulfilment that comes from working. Yes, this is one seriously special venue. Want to know more? We caught up with Kylie from Aruma to learn a little more about Summerland…
