To say that we are so in love with this couple’s colourful Mexican wedding would be a massive understatement! Tying the knot in gorgeous Puerto Vallarta, Andy and Scott made things official with one heck of a celebration – we’re talking confetti drops and special performances from a celeb-favourite dance group! Full of electric vibes and plenty of heart, this wedding fiesta was one guests said they’ll never forget.
After falling in love and becoming engaged, Andy and Scott knew they wanted a next-level location for their special day. “We wanted to be able to enjoy quality time with our guests and create an experience for people to participate in, and not just observe,” says Andy. “We’re big travellers and, throughout the years, many of our friends and family would tell us how much they wished they could travel with us. So, this was our chance to make it happen!”
With an exotic location top of their wedding wish-list, the two couldn’t think of a better place for their special day than Mexico’s beachy Puerto Vallarta. “It was the first international destination that we visited together as a couple, so it has a special place in our hearts,” explains Andy. “It’s such a charming town with incredibly friendly people, amazing food, gorgeous beaches and all the flair and authentic charm that you want in a Mexican location.” Sounds perfect to us!
Locking in a date (October 20, 2018) and a venue, the two gathered 106 loved ones at one of Puerto Vallarta’s beautiful beachfront resorts. Planning a toes-in-the-sand wedding, Andy and Scott had to change things on the day thanks to a drizzly weather forecast. Luckily, everything else went off without a hitch and the grooms said “I do” in a truly touching ceremony. “The resort managed to create a lovely space for us in the corridor that led out to the pool and the beach,” says Andy.
With everyone in high spirits, the two walked down the aisle together with their mothers and were greeted by cheers and applause from loved ones. “I was instantly overcome with emotion,” remembers Andy. “I felt pure joy, gratitude and excitement that a moment I’d only ever dreamt of had finally arrived! I was about to marry the love of my life in full view of all of my favourite people in the world, in one of my favourite places in the world.” Seriously, these guys are just too sweet!
After saying “I do” and having post-ceremony photos taken (with an umbrella, of course), the newlyweds joined loved ones for a spectacular reception. Embracing their magnificent destination, a grand marquee was decorated with picado banners, while Mexican-inspired patterned tiles served as place cards – we love! One last fabulous touch? “We also had a piñata guest book,” says Andy. “We asked guests to write notes of encouragement to us and put them inside the two piñatas, and we plan to break them open on our one- and five-year anniversaries!” Again, we love!
Tucking into a delicious mouthwatering feast (we’re told the stuffed Mexican poblano peppers with steamed rice were a big hit!), Andy and Scott later kicked off the festivities with a mariachi band and a real show-stopping performance (keep scrolling!). “We surprised our guests with a dance performance from a trio of professional dancers called ‘The Kiss Boyz’,” says Andy. “They came out in sexy red seven-inch heels and laced wedding dresses, and rocked an original dance to Bette Midler’s ‘Going to the Chapel’, then turned up the party with Britney Spear’s ‘Work B*tch’. It was definitely a moment to remember and it really got the party started!” Wish. We. Were. There!
Unsurprisingly, the dance-floor quickly became the place to be, with friends and family all ready to let their hair down. Sharing a heartfelt first dance to an acoustic version of Katy Perry’s ‘Teenage Dream’ by Darren Criss (Scott apparently sang along and nailed every word), the two were later treated to from-the-heart speeches. “My mum’s incredible speech brought the crowd to tears,” remembers Andy.
Plenty of laughter and a rainbow-hued confetti drop topped off an unforgettable day. “Our lovely beach wedding turned into an adventure with people standing shoulder-to-shoulder, surrounding us with love,” says Andy. “The feeling of community and love throughout the whole day transcended the event. We all had just so much fun and we never wanted it to end!”
