Renowned for its relaxing beaches, tropical rainforests and vibrant culture, Sri Lanka invites couples to have their dream wedding in a unique, relaxed and stunning location.

Hotels, resorts and villas abound in this island nation, offering packages for the perfect beach wedding. There are also plenty of beautiful settings nestled in the natural tropical rainforest of Sri Lanka that will give your wedding ceremony a unique sense of serenity.

You’ll enjoy a vast array of things to see and do in Sri Lanka. Visit the historical cities of Anuradhapura, Polonnaruwa and Digamadulla, or discover one of the eight wonders of the world at the ancient rock fortress, Slglriya. For something a little different, go on safari and see some of Sri Lanka’s amazing wildlife including Sri Lankan Asian elephants, sloth bears and leopards. Go whale watching or take part in myriad adventure tours, or for something a little more relaxed why not just laze in the sun on one of the pristine beaches?

If you want to get married in Sri Lanka you must present your passport and birth certificate to the Divisional/District Registrar in the area where the wedding will take place. You must also be in Sri Lanka at least four days before the date of giving notice so that the registration can take place. Once married, your marriage certificate must be certified by the Consular Affairs department of the Ministry of External Affairs of Colombo.

Sri Lanka boasts a tropical climate and a number of monsoon seasons that affect different areas of the island at different times throughout the year, so be sure to check weather maps and keep an eye on the area where you have planned your wedding. According to Sri Lanka Travel:
