Real Life Wedding: Hollie & Robby – Far North Queensland

Hollie-Louise Drummond and Robby Whitcher married in Far North Queensland's gorgeous Daintree region on 18 May 2013. The couple held their ceremony at Daintree Station in Mossman, followed by a reception at Flames of the Forest.

Why did you choose a destination wedding?

Robby and I always dreamt of getting married in the enchanting Daintree rainforest.

Why did you select that destination and venue?

We wanted somewhere really special that would give extra meaning to our wedding day. Both venues highlight the magic of the rainforest and are an amazing experience even as standalone venues.144838Did you have guests attend and, if so, what was their reaction to a destination wedding?

We had 65 guests attend from all over Australia and New Zealand. Everyone chose to make it a holiday as they were excited about the outstanding location and the opportunity to experience such an amazing place.175818-1-3

What is your favourite memory of the day?

Saying our vows surrounded by nature and in the presence of our most loved friends and family.

What was the best thing about having a destination wedding?

Having the opportunity to share a memorable holiday with friends and family.

Did a wedding coordinator help you?

We coordinated the day ourselves but received welcome assistance from both venue coordinators to ensure our day flowed flawlessly.

Did you honeymoon in the same location?

We spent two weeks honeymooning in Port Douglas and a further two weeks abroad.
