Sinead + Chris Real Wedding

-As featured in the GDW 2020 issue –

Glorious from every angle, this lavish celebration embraced the vibrant spirit of the tropics.

Sydney-based sweethearts Sinead and Chris were always tempted by a destination wedding. But it took an Australia-wide venue search before they found their dream locale, a hidden gem in Tropical North Queensland.

“When I found Bali Hai, I knew it was the place!” says Sinead, who grew up in Cairns. “It was so stunning and such a different venue from any wedding I had been to before.” The ultra-private hideaway, cocooned in the Daintree Rainforest, offered inspiration aplenty for this Instaready event.

The couple were keen to create a joyous holiday experience for their 115 guests. “I LOVED that our family and friends were there for a few days,” says the bride. “We had pre-wedding and post-wedding events and were able to chat to everyone and hang out … our guests really enjoyed the relaxed vibe and tropical feel.” With festivities extended, Sinead and Chris could really stay in the moment as they pledged their vows against Bali Hai’s luxuriant backdrop. The bride’s chic gown and lush floral crown captured the day’s refreshingly modern style, defined by jewel tones and natural textures overlaid with elegant architectural details.

An open-air reception dinner, beneath a bamboo grove festooned with lights, was a magical experience. “We did platters in the centre of the tables and everything was amazing!” says Sinead. Good times flowed well into the night. “Everyone LOVED the band,” says Sinead. “And there were some pretty hilarious speeches. We also had great MCs who were entertaining!”

Careful preparation (including travel up and down the coast for makeup trials, food tastings, and venue inspections) certainly paid off for the newlyweds, who also credit Louise from Dynamic Weddings for her key role. “Without her I would not have been able to do it!” admits Sinead. “She took so much pressure off for me!” In addition to planning support, Louise provided day-of coordination to ensure the happy couple were never distracted by details.

“There were so many precious moments,” reflects Sinead, noting a special memory that unfolded as guests enjoyed dinner. “I loved taking five minutes with my husband to walk away and just look back towards the tables and appreciate all our family and friends who had made the journey up north to celebrate us.”
