Australia is blessed with gorgeous islands, making it a cinch to host a destination wedding close to home. Intent on a tropical “I do”, Nina and Nazmie discovered their perfect venue just off the coast of Queensland. “When we started looking into a destination wedding, we were really looking for somewhere unique, tropical and preferably with the ability to marry on the beach,” says Nina. “When we found Fitzroy Island Resort, we knew straight away that it was the location for us! Fitzroy Island is definitely a hidden treasure.”
Locking in their dream venue, the two worked with the resort’s expert wedding team to create an idyllic celebration. Joined by their nearest and dearest (including their two beautiful children), Nina and Nazmie made things official in an intimate beach ceremony, held on one of the island’s perfect white-sand beaches. The two exchanged their vows after taking part in a sweet tradition. “We had a family sand ceremony with our kids, where we poured different coloured sands into a vase to create something beautiful,” remembers Nina. “Our kids were over the moon to have been a part of our wedding! It was a memory we’ll treasure forever.” Walking along the island’s beach for a dreamy photo-session, the two made more cherished memories when they joined their guests for a fabulous outdoor reception. “We were treated to these amazing sunset views and the venue’s gardens were decorated with so much attention to detail,” says Nina. “Everyone said that it was so ‘us’!” Sharing a delicious meal and fanned by relaxing coastal breezes, Nina and Nazmie had a sensational day with friends and family. “We got to have a holiday with our closest loved ones and everything was just so beautiful,” says Nina. “The venue, the day, the island – it was all perfect!”
