Following their civil ceremony in Athens, the gorgeous Andrea and Odysseas had their reception in Andrea’s home country, Bali. We adore their rustic styling with a natural feel which didn’t compete with the stunning ocean views and greenery of the resort.
Why did you select the destination and venue you did?
My husband is Greek and my family is from Indonesia. We had our civil ceremony in Athens so we thought it would be nice to have our reception in my home country.
Did you have guests attend, and if so, what was their reaction to you having a destination wedding?
In total we had 80 guests coming in from all over. We knew that no matter where we had our reception flying would be involved. Bali was a nice meeting point, plus who doesn’t love an island getaway?
What is your favourite memory of the day?
On the morning of the big day both of us were still jetlagged and woke up at 4am. Our suite window had a panoramic view of the ocean and we got to watch the sunrise together. It was so majestic.
What was the best thing about having a destination wedding?
A celebration and a holiday rolled up into one!
What theme or style did you base your wedding decorations on?
I love the idea of romantic and rustic styling with a natural feel. We incorporated shades of lilac, green foliage and brown into the whole theme. Our florist was brilliant in bringing our vision to life.
How did your wedding coordinator assist you?
We wouldn’t have been able to pull it off without them! We met once with the coordinators during site inspection and the rest was done through emails. They did a terrific job carrying out our vision and organising everything that was needed.
Did you honeymoon in the same location?
We spent an extra few days in Bali relaxing with friends and family, but we honeymooned in Japan and England not long after the wedding.
