What are some of the chef’s specialities for a wedding menu?
“We’ve taken inspiration from products we can source locally and that have a regional influence. Some of our favourites are grilled coral trout fillet with basil-infused olive oil emulsion, duck fat potatoes and kale; pan-seared wild barramundi with tempura leader prawn, smoked tomato, saffron chutney and crushed primavera potato; and local wild mushroom risotto scented with truffle oil and shaved parmesan.”

What’s the strangest request you’ve ever had for a wedding – and did you deliver?
“A bride to-be wanted to surprise her guests for her arrival. She arrived at the ceremony aboard a stunning Princess motor yacht, with all the guests waiting along the marina foreshore. Her husband-to-be was stunned yet delighted, as she had also arranged for a photoshoot aboard the yacht after their ceremony, where they were able to share a drink and quiet moment together on the deck overlooking the Whitsunday islands.”

 What’s the one thing wedding couples always forget to bring or do?

“Bring a pair of flat shoes for when it’s time to hit the dance floor! Dancing in high heels on the Lure Compass can be challenging when you have been in those heels all day!”

What’s the most glamorous/luxurious thing couples get to do at Lure, Abell Point Marina?
“Couples can take scenic flights to Whitehaven Beach and over the Great Barrier Reef on a private helicopter, which depart from one of our private marina helipads.”

What’s the best piece of advice you’d give a couple planning a destination wedding?
“While looking for your dream venue, make sure you also consider different accommodation options for your guests.”

“The first wedding we hosted at Lure will always stay special. The bride sent us a thank you card and wrote, ‘You made my dream (wedding) come true’. It was certainly the best compliment I could receive.”
