Real Life Wedding: Natalie & Brian – Bali

Natalie Constantine married Brian Hansen at Bali's beautiful Royal Pita Maha in Ubud on 14 November 2014.

An earthy, natural setting in the cultural capital of Ubud certainly provided some fabulous photo opportunities for this gorgeous couple. With an intimate setting of 40 guests and the help of a fabulous wedding planner, Natalie and Brian’s wedding was everything they imagined it would be.

Why did you choose a destination wedding?

I’d always pictured myself getting married in a tropical paradise. Bali immediately came to mind and we took a holiday to investigate some locations. We saw many beautiful places but none of them felt quite right. After attending a fabulous wedding at Villa Botanica in Airlie Beach the bar on our wedding hopes was raised sky high. When we heard that Botanica Weddings organise weddings in Bali, and have a venue in Ubud, we knew it would be what we were looking for.

Why did you select the destination and venue?

Bali had long been on our to-do list and after our initial visit we were convinced it was the right location for our wedding. It had all the things we wanted; beautiful scenery, lovely people, amazing food and a relaxed and welcoming atmosphere. Essentially, it was our version of paradise.

How did your guests react to you choosing a destination wedding?

We had 40 guests and they were excited to be attending a wedding destination they could make a holiday out of.

Your favourite memory of the day?

Our wedding dance. When we walked into the venue it was breathtaking and magical – all our family and friends seated at one long table under soft lights and lanterns in trees. The music began and we did the bridal waltz. It was the one and only time we managed to make it the whole way through the dance, just as it was meant to be. We couldn’t have been happier.

What style did you base your wedding on?

We wanted our wedding to feel relaxed and above all to be a fun celebration of our lives together. It was extremely important to us that everyone felt included and so we decided on one long table for all our guests. The colour and theme was ‘modern elegance’. We had white flowers and lights and let the scenery speak for itself. We included Champagne sashes on the chairs and the  bridesmaid wore a Champagne silk flowing dress.

How did your wedding planner help you?

Kathryn was simply amazing. She went out of her way to ensure that our every idea could be achieved and that on the day every last detail was taken care of. I felt completely assured we were in good hands.
